Suicide, Suffering, and Sin and Jesus

I think I speak for most when I say the subject of death isn't a normally topic of discussion.
But, if you or someone close to you are facing a seriously challenging unfortunate health condition with a grim prognosis, what does a person do?
Would you obsess on death or focus on living to make the most of every single day?

These are some tough questions when you know your days are numbered.
It's not easy to focus your thoughts on dying while you're still living.
Nor is it easy dwelling on the subject of death when you're enjoying health.

I've not been in the shoes of anyone lingering on thoughts of ending their life. But, I believe a person can act on ending their life without planning the act. A sudden change of events can cause a person to taking actions to end their life without considering the long-term effects upon their families. But, like I've mentioned, I do not have the same thought processes as a person in a desperate situation or dilemma.

My first experience of knowing about a person ending their life made me think. I was a teenager and the person who ended her life lived next door. The family next door to our house was very quiet. When I heard the news that the Mother has killed herself, leaving her husband and daughter, I wondered what could have happened to have made her need to do such a thing.

Whenever I hear of someone committing suicide, I still have the same questions.

Much goes on on the inside of a person that is not immediately revealed.
And, some things will not be revealed.
My questions shall remain unanswered.

Two people who lived a life of fame and prosperity.

Robin Williams- former actor and comedian
He was funny, talented and adored by his family and millions of fans. I even remember of him communicating though sign language with a Koko, the gorilla.

Mr. William's wife says Robin was suffering from more than one brain disorder which were not going to improve.

Rick Genest (Zombie Boy)-body-tattooed model
He was diagnosed with a brain tumor when he was 15 and from reading about him, he became obsessed with macabre. Covering nearly his entire body were insect and skeletal tattoos, including his skull and face. He looked like the living dead. Could the image of looking at a gruesome reflection of yourself in the mirror have had an effect on his self-image and mindset?
I don't know if he still had a brain tumor or if the ill effects of having had a brain tumor had an affect on Rick. I could not find any definite reason or reasons why he committed suicide.

We can't be privy to everything about a person-their heart, their soul, nor their motives to gain insight why they chose to end their lives. Neither riches or fame are proven to insulate a person from whatever may cause thoughts to end one's life.
The thoughts playing in one's mind can take control to taking action and initiate steps to cease living. Please, please, please immediately seek professional help if you ever have any thoughts of killing yourself. Your life is worth living and your are valuable and needed.
This is true and something each of us should be reminded of from time to time.
Each and every life is very valuable, needed and worth living to the fullest.

And, there are some unfortunately faced with a life or death matter, (not a suicide but having to decide ending their baby's life or not), decide to place life in the hands of the one who created life.

There are many other examples to write on this concerning and complex subject, but I'm left pondering situations and causes to why some might want to end their life-such as,
Chronic, debilitating pain,
Depression,
Poverty,
Divorce,
Physical disfigurement,
Feeling unloved or abandonment
Incarceration for life
Public humiliation
No hope.
The hope is available because many have suffered and recovered from the above to enjoy fulfilling lives. Get help so you can recover and manage your suffering.

But one thing for sure. Our Lord and Savior took the heavy load of a world of sin upon His shoulders. He took it all and He suffered horribly, publicly, and bled profusely. He did not deserve any of the suffering or torture that he endured. Jesus suffered while taking He did not deserve on our behalf. He suffered so any suffering we endure in this life will one day be over and after it's over, we will experience an eternity of glory beyond our most extreme imagination can imagine.
For believers, the best is yet to come.

Read the testimony at the end here-a persona's suffering was seen as a blessing.

I believe suffering now has it's place. In suffering we get a taste of what Jesus went through for us.
And so we long to join Him in glory.
Our life here is just a vapor. Eternity is forever.
With that in mind, that's why we are to share the good news with everyone.
Whatever is afflicting your body and/or mind will not continue forever.
Yes, years ago when I was going though a time when I could not see how I was going to survive, I had a momentary thought of ending it all, but that small voice told me, "Hang on, just hang on. Jesus loves you unconditionally and forever."

Suffering isn't what anyone pines to experience.
But the Lord can use even suffering for the better for someone.
There is hope, a future and life in and through Jesus, who is victorious over spiritual death. We can have everlasting life in Jesus, the Christ.

There may be suffering for a while, but it can't compare to the great glory that awaits those who trust in the Lord.

Action steps-
Believe Jesus is the Son of God.
Ask Him (Jesus) to save you from the penalty of your sins.
Invite Him into your heart and your life.
Thank and praise Him for bearing the penalty of your sins and an eternal spiritual death.
Repent of your sins.
Make your passion to live a life pleasing to Him.

Jesus can be trusted and believed
Believers aren't perfect but their sins are forgiven and they are permanently secure in the Lord. Jesus can be trusted and believed and believers can't be un-saved, un-forgiven nor un-adopted.
So, welcome into the family of God as a precious adopted child, and heir to his Kingdom. Your quickened spirit shall never die.
For the rest of your life continue to grow your faith along side other believers and deepen your heart-felt relationship with the Lord.

Laminin- how awesome a cohesive molecule!

Laminin. Have your heard of it?

Laminin is a protein molecule like no other molecule.
Basically, you're held together by laminin.

Watch and listen to this video!

The tissues of your body are held together by a cross-shaped protein.
That is just like something God would design.

After learning about laminin, I can see this as one more thing pointing to what Christ accomplished on the cross. The cross symbolizes we have hope because our Lord bore the penalty of our sins there for us. And because of that, all things are held together by him, for him and through him. Even symbolized inside the molecules of our bodies!

Yes, the Creator of the universe fashioned our bodies together fabulously and wonderfully!
Simply awesome!

And, take a look what this site shares about laminin.

David Cassidy's last words

I remember watching The Partridge Family television sitcom.

David Cassidy was a young, attractive, musician and singer who acted on the The Partridge Family show. I thought it was a popular and entertaining show.

David Cassidy was also on the cover of Teen Magazine multiple times.
I remember this because I bought and read Teen Magazine.

I was a teenage in the 70's when America was settling into integrating schools.
The Vietnam War was behind us and the Cold War was cooling down.
The news and media programs fed us segments of vivid, colorful images for our hungry eyes to feast upon space exploration images. We were kept in-the-know on professional athletes on the field, courts, tracks and raceways. We saw Walt Disney hosting his wonderful world. Journalists, photographers and reporters, producers and directors gave us people and animals of foreign lands to view in our living rooms in technicolor. Movies for television and the big screen were alluring, interesting and entertaining, from The Wizard of Oz to Gone with the Wind and the Sound of Music. And speaking of music, Jazz, New Age,  Hard Rock, Easy Listening- they were all vibrating ear drums in stereo from live stages, radio stations, or sound systems that spun records or tapes.

Television shows were basically wholesome in that the entire family could watch television together and not hear any profanity, see cleavage, or unmarried people in bed together. The Brady Bunch, The Sonny and Cher Show, The Carole Brunette Show, Bonanza, Gun Smoke, The Green Hornet, Dragnet, Adam-12, and Star Trek were shows I liked.

I  really was shocked when I heard ghDavid Cassidy had passed on November 21, 2017. He was 67.
In reading of his passing, his daughter, Kate, shared his final words.

"So much lost time."

These last words spoken by David Cassidy before he took his final breath were so poignantly true to life. This author apparently thinks so, too.

I have to say I am guilty of wasting tons and tons of precious time on frivolous nothingness.
I have to say I am guilty of wasting many precious moments, hours, months, years on stuff that's NOT ever going to positively promote a hills of beans.

Why do I do this? Time not spent well is a very sad, grieving loss.

I'd rather spend precious time involved in promoting a positive life change for the better, and a spiritual change of the heart is the best because it's effects are not just temporary, they're eternal.

Too much time is spent, wasted and lost on the temporary and unimportant stuff.

I don't want to not come to my last moments and being regretful of 'so much lost time.'

Let's both keep this in mind and be passionately focused to not keep mounting up much more lost hours, weeks, months and years then necessary.

Trust, Belief and Faith

Trusting and believing in a person leads to having faith in that person.

It's not possible to have faith in someone you neither trust or believe.

It requires time to grow into believing and trusting a person.

Their talk must match their walk. Should you detect that person can't be fully trusted,
that brings doubt, which cannot lead to believing nor any faith in that person.

A person's reputation and character coupled with their actions and speech are just a few
relevant factors to determine if a person is worthy of gaining your trust and to be believed.

A person you trust is a person you feel confident about.

A person you believe in is a person you can place your full acceptance of their word, character, morals and values.

Placing your faith in someone one is a step beyond believing and trusting.

Faith exists without concrete evidence physical evidence, per se.
Sometimes real evidence can't be touched or seen or presented in court to be cross-
examined or studied under a microscope.

Faith is a matter of the heart and spirit.
And, just like your spirit, it's not tangible, but it's very real.

Putting your faith in a person is placing your total (heart, mind and soul) acceptance, trust and belief in that person.

Jesus is worthy of being trusted and believed.
But more so, he's the One whom you can place your faith.

Why? Because He gave his life for your soul. He cares for you that much to have died for you so that
you, your spirit, that part of you which will never cease, can live in a heavenly home after His return.

Jesus has paid the just penalty for the sins you and I have committed against a Holy God.

Yes, we should have to pay for our sins, but thank the Lord, Jesus, because of his love for you and I, He's paid our sin-debt in full on the Cross of Calvary. A person is saved from having to pay their sin debt when they accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
Yes, Jesus can worthy to be trusted, believed and faithful.

To be in the good graces with God the Father, God the Son must be your Savior.
The way to get Jesus into your life is by faith.
When you open your heart to invite Him into your life by faith, you can then say you need him, you believe what he did for you on the Cross, and you trust him to lead your life as Lord of your life.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Jesus is God in the flesh-He came to do what had to be done concerning the spiritual matter of sin
so any person can enjoy life forever.

Sin separates us from God.

Jesus brings those saved from sin into the family and kingdom of God.

God never reneges on any of His promises to us.

He who has the Son, has the best gift from God.

The best is yet to come for those in Christ.

When you accept the gift of Jesus by faith, you step into receiving of the bountiful and lavish gratuity of God's loving charity which has no expiration. Take the leap of faith!

Answer for yourself these questions.....

Do you know that because of your sins, you're an enemy of God and deserve to pay the penalty with your life?

Jesus paid the penalty you owe for your sins. But when you accept him by faith into your life and heart, and believe who he is and what he did for you, you're pardoned from the penalty you owe from your disobedience and sinning against a holy, righteous and just God.

Do you want to know Jesus personally?

If so, then seek him and he can be found. Open your heart and study of his life in the Bible and
inquire of someone whom you can trust to point you to him? He will reveal himself to you if you earnestly seek him.

Are you a sinner saved by grace or a sinner in enmity with God?

God's gift is life and peace and joy. God's gifts are promises for those in his Kingdom to enjoy. Jesus is the way to the Kingdom of God. Without inviting Jesus into your heart and life, you're already walking dead with no hope for the future. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Light.

Church of Cannabis in Alabama

I wrote earlier about the First Church of Cannabis in Indiana.

I understand there's now a First Church of Cannabis in Alabama looking to be situated in Montgomery.

After viewing the video I have to wonder---
if a plant, mineral, vegetable, or object is deemed 'good and peaceful' by Man,
is that Man's reason to worship it?

A church building where believers meet for group worship to the Lord

And, for what ever reason or excuse, isn't worshiping anything other than God considered idolatry?
Cannabis may not be a statue or a graven image, but replacing the worship to God with worship to an herb is what I would call 'modern day idolatry'.

Jesus, the Son of God had proven he's 'good and peaceful' and through him a person can have everlasting peace with the God of creation, (the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob). Cannabis can't give that.

In my humble opinion, smoking an herb will not gain me any peace with God. It may gain me a few minutes of pain relief. I don't wish anyone to suffer with pain. If I was suffering in chronic pain I'd also like to have some relief. But anything I take for pain I do not think is on any level with Christ the Messiah.

And, cannabis isn't the only substance easing discomforts of pain,
What's next, the Church of the pain-relievers Codeine, Aleve® and Oxycontin®?

I believe the Church should only be about the message of the Bible which telling of the need of a personal Savior or Messiah because no one other than Jesus can say they've not sinned against God. Sin is serious and separates us from a holy and just God. The church is a gathering place to teach and instruct about being a disciple of Jesus.
In learning of Christ in Bible scriptures we learn about the heavenly Father, what's pleasing to our heavenly Father and how to live a more spiritually and more Christ-like.

The Lord alone deserves all of our worship because in and through him is the only way for us to inherit God's promises and for our spirit to be quickened with the Holy Spirit.

Food, water and air are beneficial as well and necessary. But I don't see any church gatherings to worship these life necessities supporting physical well-being.  Smoking cannabis has it's place and it's benefits but cannabis worship is far fetching where worship to it doesn't belong, in my opinion

I do pray those seeking healing to first and foremost seek after the true healer with all their heart, mind and strength and place total faith and trust in Him who  truly is worthy to be worshiped and praised.

'Nuff said.

The First Church of Cannabis, and how far are we willing to go?

Here's some trendy news.

I read about a church in Indiana, called First Church of Cannabis, where the parishioners can
legally smoke pot.

I'm not certain if pot smoking is the whole criteria of their religious belief, but the article does read 'they' believe cannibus can heal the world and formed a church to claim pot smoking is part of their religious practice.

Here are four news articles on the science of the healing benefits of Cannabis, which is the medical term for marijuana.

This article states medical marijuana will have different effects for different people when
  used under different conditions.

This article tells about medical types-Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, and Cannabis Ruderalis.

This article tells about the different ways of getting the best medicinal effect from Cannabis.
(for example, if smoked, a vaporizer will help cut down lung and bronchial irritation).

And this article tells about a strain of cannabis with high CBD (cannabidiol) to low TCH (tetrahydro-cannabinol), medical studies of Cannabis and Parkinson's Disease and cancer, a cannabis drink and more.

Okay, back to The First Church of Cannabis.

A church is a building, a structure where people meet.
A place where they can gather together, but should church be a place to smoke pot?
In Christian terms, 'the' church refers to the collective followers of Christ.

What is religion?
Has the First Church of Cannabis based it's doctrine around a plant because it helps with many physical afflictions?

A religion or organization where the people worship pot.
After reading this article, I'm questioning if the parishioners of the First Church of Cannabis have elevated marijuana to a status of divinity?

What is worship?
Are the parishioners of The First Church of Cannabis worshiping a plant because of it's therapeutic benefits?

This is one of the best writings I've come across on what is worship.
God alone deserves our praises and true worship.
Here are 34 scriptures on worship God.

What is idolatry?

Here are some modern forms of idolatry
(Idolatry is placing honor or reverence on anything other than God).

Here are 100 scripture verses on idolatry.

Indiana's church of marijuana is a legitimate entity.
Does this 'count' as what a 'church' was designed to be?

Have the parishioners of this church taken something intended to be utilized for the spreading of the gospel and turned it into a format or tool so they can legally and religiously partake in a substance for pleasure or benefits?
Facts state this plant gives good, healthful value, but elevating any substance to the status of being worthy of being worshiped is questionable.

The true determination of it's position as a true church, what the parishioners believe and practice, and their worship to a plant will ultimately be determined by the true and righteous Judge, Jesus.

My thoughts....
How far shall Man allow himself to turn away from God?
What will sinning ultimately profit any one?
(I'm not advocating to live with pain - it's always helpful to seek a way to be pain-free,
but the condition of a person's eternal soul is much more important than any condition of the body, which has a termination date. The soul does not.

Scripture verses on turning away from God.

The living God loves each of us so much.
Sin lessens our love for Him.
Why does God hate sin?

The results of sin-

In our 'soul' is where sin is birthed.
Sinfulness breeds more sinfulness unless checked, and this is The Way.

Why do we sin?

Blinded eyes and hardened hearts keep us going the sinful way.

God does not approve of any sinful behavior-it's not for our ultimate good. Satisfying any fleshly desires feels good, but some have negative consequences.

When the condition of the state of Mankind in general keeps looking more dreadful
rather than positive and encouraging, it should be obvious--- STOP Make a change and turn
around before it's too late.

Stop sinning - it leads only to danger

Sinning leads only to danger.

But for some it's more important to have a religious right to legally 'light up'
and feel good for a few hours....

and, so...

with blinded-eyes, hardened hearts and total disregard for their very souls,
some continue plunging downward towards the abyss of utter darkness.

P.S. I'm not judging any person. This is a discussion about how sinfulness has lead to the forming of  a church being about marijuana and not about Jesus, the Son of God, who loved us so much he died to pay the penalty for our Sins.

Until next time, I shall keep moving upwards my glorious future on that small, less traveled path set before me.

The source of Peace

Short and simple.

We desire peace with ourselves, our neighbors and others, but desiring to be at peace with God
ought to be more important.

The only way to have peace with God, is through Jesus.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

You CAN have peace with God through Jesus. It's a peace like no other peace we can imagine. There's no adequate way to describe the peace that Jesus offers those who accept him as their Lord and Savior.

Through Jesus, we can be at peace with God, that means to not be in conflict against God because our sins are forgiven through the sacrifice of Jesus dying on the cross at Calvary, and we can have no fear of death any longer. (spiritual death). Those who believe will enjoy eternal, spiritual life because your spirit will have been quickened (made alive) by the Holy Spirit, the same power that raised Jesus from death.

That's some special kind of peace. And some special kind of life to look forward to in God's Kingdom.

Throughout history, does it look like peace is on the horizon for people living on this planet or not?  No conflict between people just isn't possible.
Peace is always out of grasp because the ingredient for peace can only come about through one Way.

Jesus offers peace because He is the source of Peace.
Jesus is the source of all good and all love.

My paraphrase-You're at peace with God when you have the Son whom God has given all authority to. (John 3:34-36)

Look at these scriptures on peace.
